Lorne Campbell director of Northern Stage to become Artistic Director of the National Theatre Wales

Lorne Campbell will take over from Kully Thiarai in the spring of 2020. He began his career at the Tarverse in Edinburgh and has been with Northern Stage since 2013. He said the prospectr of joining the National Theatre Wales was profoundly exciting and the chance o work with the incredible talent, ambition and dynamism of Welsh theatre. "There is great work happening in Wales I cannot wait to engage with the depth and breadth of this creativity, aspiration and expression."
Phil George, chair of the Arts Council Wales said Lorne Campbell would find a vibrant theatre scene and they looked forward to welcoming him. His depth of experience engaging with communities in the North East would give added strength and energy to NTW's extensive community network across Wales. Simon Elliott, chair of Northern Stage, said Campbell would be leaving it ingreat shape for the future and wished him well in his new appointment.
