He Said She Said by Magero Otieno-Magoro. A Synergy Theatre Project. The Kiln Theatre, 725 Kilburn High Road, London NW6 7-10 March 2023. William Russell

This production by Synergy Theatre is the centrepiece of this North London theatre's inaugural schools' week part of its planned Creative Programming. Performed and stage-managed by a company of professionals and ex-prisoners it is intended for teenage audiences and the stint at the Kiln follows a two week tour of secondary schools in Harrow, Ealing, Brent, Hammersmith and Fulham which started on 20 February. Directed by Esther Baker it harnesses the energy and experiences of the participants - prisoners, ex prisoners, young offenders and young people at risk of offending - to look at how social media platforms can be used and misused to shar information and escalate conflict. Kayla urged by her friend Denise puts snaps taken with Yusuf on social media to make Dre jealous and things go wrong. The lesson for the audience is how risky social media can be and how something innocent can become distorted.
