Peter Barnes best known play is probably the one that made his name - The Ruling Class first staged at Nottingham Playhouse in 1968. In 1972 it was filmed with Peter O'Toole in the lead giving an acclaimed performance. A prolific playwright he kept on working producing plays, radio and film scripts. These four monologues are from the series Barnes People broadcast in 1981. We will review them in due course. He is not a forgotten playwright, but one worth revisiting and worth discovering.
