Coronavirus - Theatres in London and throughout the country have closed down

Theatres in London and elsewhere in the country closed down last night, March 16, or will do so in the next day or so, because of the pandemic. The Society of London Theatres, which represents the West End theatres, made the announcement following the Prime Minister's statement on new measures to deal with the pandemic and its sister organisation UK theatres, which represets 165 theatres throughout the country, said they would be doing the same. Many of London's small fringe theatres like the Arcola and the Finborough had already announced closure. They will re-open when it is considered safe for people to assemble in large numbers. Check with the box office of any theatre for which you have tickets - there will be refunds, offers of dates at a later booking and some will ask that you consider leaving the money to help them survive.
